Relocating Your Cavoodle – Secrets For Great Vibes from #1 Pet Transporters

Flying your beloved Cavoodle can be both exciting and daunting. While bringing your furry friend along for the journey adds an extra layer of joy to your travels, ensuring their safety and comfort during air travel is paramount. Whether you’re jetting off for a holiday or relocating, these dog travel tips will help make the experience smooth and stress-free for both you and your pet within Australia, directly from the expert

Understanding their behavior

Before we dive into travel tips, it’s crucial to understand their temperament. Friendly, gentle, and affectionate, Cavoodles are ideal travel companions. However, they can be sensitive to noise and stress, making it essential to prioritise their comfort and well-being during travel. Pre-Flight Preparations

  1. Check their age: Minimum age is at least 8 weeks old, some airlines let pups as young as 8 weeks old like Virgin Australia if they are accompanied by a fit-to-fly certificate from a registered vet, while others like Qantas Australia have a requirement of at least 12 weeks old. Dogs older than 12 years also need a fit to fly certificate.
  2. Health check: Even though for domestic flights, pups older than 12 weeks old don’t need to present a Fit-to-fly certificate, it’s a good practice to take your dog to the Vet for a health check before flying him to another destination.
  3. Travel Crate: Invest in a sturdy, airline-approved travel crate that meets your Dog’s size and comfort needs. At Petflyers, we both hire and sell crates that comply with the latest IPATA and LAR guidelines to ensure a safe enclosure for your fluffy friend. We suggest you buy a crate and let your dog get used to for at least a couple of weeks before the flight. Put some favourite toys or snacks in the crate to develop positive vibes. Go for walks near an Airport so they can get used to the noise.

Where can I fly my Cavoodle?

Interstate flights are available for Pets between the main Australian Cities such as Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney and also to Regional Cities. If you need International Pet Transport we can export Dogs to pretty much anywhere in the World, please contact us to discuss.

Before the flight

It is important not to feed your Dog for at least 12 hours before the flight and give them a walk before going to the Airport. Airlines will not load Pets who have soiled their crates.

What can I put inside the crate of my dog?

Your dog cannot be harnessed while flying as the Airlines do not allow pets to travel in their Harnesses. If you wish to send a Harness and/or Lead with your pet please place it in a Plastic Bag that can be taped to the top of the crate. Please be advised we do not accept responsibility for any lost leads or harnesses, occasionally the Airlines do lose them, so anything of value should be sent by registered Post, not attached to the Crate.

You can also add a blanket or T-shirt to the crate if you wish. No items are permitted to be attached to the crate other than Dog leads and Medications, including GPS Trackers.
